Applications Engineer (or Designer depending on PENG. status), Americas

Reporting to Applications Manager, the Applications Engineer carries the overall responsibility for all the equipment and system proposals in Mpac Americas. In direct collaboration with sales, this position is responsible for the proper quoting of projects, ensuring that proposals and bids are completed accurately and on time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment & system proposals as required by Sales
  • Create and propose concepts for the customer which align with market trends and promotes development of standard product lines
  • Review customer required safety and electrical specifications
  • Prepare accurate cost estimations for proposals
  • Secure OEM proposals from outside vendors as required
  • Support outside selling activities
  • Understand customer decision making process and criteria
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely, professional manner
  • Co-ordinate with all departments, the agent and the customer, to ensure quotes are available on time, are complete, accurate and of a high quality
  • Act as the voice of the customer within Mpac
  • As necessary, represent Mpac with the agents and customers, to close orders, answer technical questions, and provide the appropriate packaging solution
  • Provide input into and maintain databases ( customer/market/competitor intelligence)

 

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Keeps current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to packaging equipment system design and operation
  • Support Project Managers during order execution

 

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • 3-5 years’ experience in quoting or engineering of highly engineered capital equipment
  • Degree or Technical Education in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with focus on Robotics, Automation and controls
  • Ability to develop and maintain a technical appreciation of Mpac products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly customer focused
  • Strong organizational ability, able to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Good level of computer skills (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD)

 

Physical Demands

  • Most work is performed in an office environment with occasional trips to the assembly floor and the warehouse
  • Hearing acuity required for safety reasons while on the assembly floor
  • exposure to high noise from machines operating nearby during visits to the assembly floor
  • Most of work is done while sitting down
  • Works with computer for prolonged periods of time

 

Hardware & Software Requirements

  • One desktop computer, keyboard, 2 monitors, mouse, 3d mouse
  • Relevant software includes AutoCAD, SmarTeam, Dayforce, Share file
  • 100% adherence to company computer policy is required

  • This position is a position of trust and responsibility. Long working hours may be necessary on occasion in order to comply with deadlines (internal and external).
  • This position requires the employee to attend work properly groomed and dressed according to the position. Mpac attire is mandatory at all times
