The Role:
Reporting to the Applications Aftermarket Team Leader, the Mechanical Engineer provides efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small component designs to large machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical design of packaging machinery and automation within assigned specifications.
- Provides engineering expertise throughout the project and product development lifecycle; from initial concept generation to detailed design, machine development, installation and customer acceptance.
- Work with Lead Product Line Designers to identify and implement cost savings in designs/materials.
- Manage assigned projects on schedule and within budget.
- Ensure Bills of Material are in line with agreed company standards.
- Support Sales Department with concept development for future projects.
- Specify and integrate OEM equipment in “turn-key” projects.
- Is driven by a desire for engineering excellence whilst helping ensure that designs are delivered within agreed cost and time constraints.
- Ensure project-related processes are fully adhered to.
- Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- University Mechanical Engineering Education (advantageous)
- Demonstrable mechanical design experience
- Mechanical engineering experience in the field of automation/industrial machinery. (Packaging Machinery is highly advantageous)
- CAD design experience (2D or 3D – Autodesk Inventor)
- Good knowledge and understanding of design standards.
- Good level of computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel & Project).
- Good understanding of manufacturing & assembly processes.
